Vrksasana Series: Blossom, Willow, Sugar Maple, and Oak

This series explores a cultural combination of Black beings with eastern mindfulness practices. Trees in tree pose. After the first piece, “Vrksasana Blossom” I then wanting to explore different body types with “Vrksasana Willow.” After this the goal was to explore the rarity of seeing black men in yoga in “Vrksasana Oak”. The final autumn piece Sugar Maple explores boys in meditation and also ask the question, at what point is a black youth seen as an adult and thus a threat.
