Designing, installing, and nurturing
clean, safe, inviting spaces for all

Placemaking

We’ve added furniture to provoke conversation, placed beautiful planters, and installed wayfinding banners across the neighborhood to create more inviting public spaces for people to gather or enjoy on their own. Look for more than 300 pieces of furniture in five key Southwest locations: 300 block of C St SW, the space outside of the DOT/FAA headquarters, Hancock Park, The Lot at 4th and M St SW, and the Southwest Duck Pond. We’re continually adding planters across the neighborhood and regularly manage the installation of banners on main community thoroughfares, creating a more vibrant and welcoming Southwest.

L’Enfant Promenade Beautification

We partnered with the International Spy Museum and JBG/Smith to create streetscape improvements along L’Enfant Promenade, adding tree planters along the northern end, reviving the landscaping along the southern portion and adding furniture along the promenade.

Landscaping projects

  • Benjamin Banneker Park

    Benjamin Banneker Park

Located at the end of L’Enfant Plaza overlooking the Wharf in Southwest DC, the eight-acre Benjamin Banneker Park commemorates the African American scientist, surveyor, and author who assisted in the survey of the original boundaries of the District of Columbia. Our team undertook the challenge to beautify the park for all to commemorate and celebrate Banneker’s inspiring work.

  • Dean Wilhelm Memorial Park

    Dean Wilhelm Memorial Park

At the corner of 6th and D St SW, this park serves as our team’s landscaping “lab,” giving the team a place to experiment with new planting designs while also breathing life into this small traffic triangle.
