The grill’s enticing aroma wafted through the neighborhood, drawing people toward the Lot at 4th and M St, where we held our 2nd Annual Inspire Success Day. Upon arrival, guests were welcomed with coffee and donuts, ensuring an energized start to a promising day.
By 10 a.m., people of all ages began arriving: a toddler happily bouncing a foam basketball, a 19-year-old eager to join the MPD Police Cadet Corps, and a community member seeking healthcare resources after a recent stroke. More than 25 partners were present, including SNAP, United Healthcare, DC Central Kitchen, the U.S. Military, and DC Metro, offering valuable resources in career development, financial literacy, education, health, and well-being.
Several government officials also joined us, including Jarred Bowman, Associate Director of Engagement from the DC Council Office of Racial Equity; Drew Hubbard, Executive Director of the DC Workforce Investment Council; and Jason Washington, Chief of Staff for the Department of Employment Services. They witnessed firsthand how we aim to empower the community by providing essential tools for personal and professional growth, all in one place.
The weather was perfect as attendees engaged with community partners, enjoyed lunch, and even joined a friendly pull-up competition. Our team member Mike made a record-breaking 25 pull-ups. Over 500 people attended, underscoring the vibrancy of SW, where the spirit of support and community was palpable throughout the day.
We look forward to seeing you next year!
